She was accompanied by her guide dog, Quark. What happened next was unacceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The security guard immediately told her to \u201ctake your pet outside\u201d, ignoring her explanation that Quark was her guide dog. He repeated this demand, louder and more aggressively each time, until passersby intervened. Only then did a member of staff reluctantly allow her in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This wasn\u2019t just an inconvenience, it was humiliating, intimidating, and illegal.<br>Under the <strong>Equality Act 2010<\/strong>, assistance dog owners have the legal right to enter businesses and public places. Refusing them entry is <strong>unlawful discrimination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Inclusion Is More Than a Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The story reminded me that inclusion isn\u2019t just about having a written policy. It\u2019s about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A culture that values dignity and respect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff who understand their legal responsibilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leaders who take proactive steps to remove barriers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this case, the customer shouldn\u2019t have had to raise her voice to be heard. She shouldn\u2019t have had to rely on strangers to defend her rights.
